Knox Firefighters to Collect More Income Surveys

Knox-Center Township Volunteer Fire Department members will be canvassing the city again over the next few days in an effort to proceed with a state grant application.

The city is looking to add on to the south side fire station and is seeking a grant from the Office of Community and Rural Affairs to offset part of the cost. An income survey of the community is required as part of the grant application.

Fire Chief Kenny Pfost told the city council Tuesday evening they’ve completed 220 income surveys so far. That’s less than half of what is needed to submit the application.

Starting today, fire department members and city officials will make another round of visits to residents within the city limits in hopes of gathering more responses. Also Mayor Dennis Estok volunteered to make some telephone calls to gather information.

They stress all information gathered as part of the process will be kept strictly confidential. Also survey responses will not require residents to give out personal information.

Survey responses are due by March 10th.
