Heroin overdose cases continue to add up this weekend in LaPorte County, claiming two lives in the process. The LaPorte County Drug Task Force says investigators responded to two reported overdoses in LaPorte Saturday morning. One victim was able to be revived with Narcan and was taken to LaPorte Hospital. The other, however, died.
That follows three suspected overdoses Friday. Officers say they learned overnight that one of those victims has died. That adds up to five suspected heroin overdose cases in just over 12 hours.
Sheriff John Boyd notes that similar overdose spikes are being seen around Indiana and the rest of the United States. Again, he says if you know someone who’s struggling with heroin addiction, monitor them closely and seek whatever help is available.
