Culver Council Approves Ambulance Purchase

The Town of Culver is moving ahead with the purchase of a new ambulance. On Tuesday, the town council voted to approve its share of the $128,000 cost. Union Township is also expected to contribute funds.

Medix Specialty Vehicles of Elkhart was the only company to submit a bid. After reviewing it, EMS Director Kathy Hart has determined the Ford diesel ambulance will meet the department’s needs. One difference from the department’s current vehicles is that it has a truck front-end, rather than a van design, making its total length a few inches longer.

Meanwhile, the Culver-Union Township Fire Department has also gotten some new equipment. Fire Chief Terry Wakefield reported that the recently-purchased backup generator has now been installed at the fire station, and firefighters have been trained on how to use the new carbon monoxide meter.
