Flooding Possible as Precipitation Continues

 

Flooding is possible in a couple of perennial low-lying areas. The National Weather Service has issued a flood warning for the Kankakee River at Davis on U.S. 30 through Wednesday. As of last night the river was holding steady at 9.3 feet. Flood stage is 10 feet in that area. The river is expected to rise above flood stage this morning and crest near 11.2 feet Friday afternoon.

It should fall below flood stage next Thursday evening. At 11 feet flooding of secondary roads near the Starke/LaPorte County line begins.

The National Weather Service has also issued a flood watch for the Tippecanoe River near Ora from tomorrow until further notice. As of last night the river was at 9.9 feet and steady. Flood stage in that area is 12 feet. The Tippecanoe River near Ora may rise to near 12.7 feet Saturday afternoon.
