Hamlet Library Branch to Close for Updates

The Hamlet branch of the Starke County Public Library will be closed a few extra days this week to accommodate some updates.

Workers will begin tearing out the carpeting tomorrow, when the library is typically closed. Before that can be done, all of the books will need to be removed from the shelves, and then all of the shelves will need to be taken apart and moved.

After the new carpeting is in place, staff will rebuild the shelves and replace the books as quickly as possible. That work will continue Thursday, May 25th. The library is set to reopen on Friday, May 26th.

The library is getting new carpeting for the first time in more than 20 years. It’s being paid for from local tax money to provide library services, programs and collections and to maintain the facilities.
