Knox Board of Works Selects Community Center Roof Contractor

The Knox Board of Works has hired a contractor to redo the roof at the Nancy J. Dembowski Community Center. Elkhart-based Master Steel Roofing submitted the lone bid for the work. Their total price of $65,817 includes a snow guard for an additional $944 over the door and garage to protect against avalanching snow.

The roof carries a 35-year paint and 30 year material warranty, along with a 5-year warranty for workmanship. Master Steel Roofing also installed the metal roof at Knox United Methodist Church.

Installation will take an estimated 12 working days and will not interrupt operations at the community center, since the roof is being done as an overlay. No time frame has been set for the project, as city officials want to coordinate with the vendor who is installing the heating and cooling system.

The city is financing the repairs through the sale of bonds, which will not affect local tax rates.
