Culver School Board Meets New Elementary School Teachers

The Culver Community Schools Corporation has finalized the list of teachers for the upcoming school year. Three new elementary school teachers were officially hired during last week’s school board meeting.

Culver alumna Sarah Bailey is returning to the school corporation as its newest kindergarten teacher. She comes to Culver Elementary from Lighthouse Autism Center in Plymouth.

Paula Krause was hired to teach third grade. She previously taught preschool at Culver, as part of the Head Start program.

Meanwhile, Erika James will take over as the Kindergarten-through-fifth-grade high ability teacher and elementary school improvement plan coordinator. She comes to Culver from the Plymouth Community School Corporation, where she taught fourth grade at Webster Elementary.

They will replace three teachers who have taken positions at other school corporations, according to Superintendent Karen Shuman. Various substitute teaching positions and other vacancies were also filled during last week’s school board meeting.

The first day of class at the Culver Community Schools Corporation is this Wednesday.
