Medaryville Council Opts to Hold Off on Water Tower Grant Application

Plans to construct a new water tower in Medaryville are on hold. A lack of available funds has led the town council to wait until the spring grant cycle to apply for a Community Development Block Grant, according to Medaryville Deputy Clerk Jackie Hines.

The town planned to build the water tower across the street from the town hall, on land currently owned by the Diocese of Lafayette. Earlier this month, the town council made an official offer to buy the two parcels for $6,000.

Hines says council members this week discussed moving ahead with the purchase, but using the land for a town parking lot, instead. She says the town’s attorney is still working to finalize the deal.
