La Porte County officers have arrested a New Carlisle man following a double fatality crash on Friday, Oct. 6.
According to police, 40-year-old Tron Gorbonosenko drove his Ford Mustang head-on into a Honda Odyssey occupied by Don and Angie Kaczmarek. They died as a result of the collision, according to the report. Gorbonosenko was critically injured and was flown from the scene to Memorial Hospital in South Bend where he remained for a week.
Police say a crash reconstruction investigation uncovered that Gorbonosenko’s blood alcohol level at the time of the crash was .17% which is twice that of the legal limit in Indiana.
Criminal warrants were issued for his arrest and he was taken into custody on Tuesday, Oct. 17. He was booked into the La Porte County Jail on two felony counts of operating a vehicle while intoxicated above .15% causing death and two felony counts of reckless homicide. Bond is set at $25,000.
