Community Crossings Paperwork Complete for Knox Projects

Knox Street Superintendent Jeff Borg told the Knox Board of Public Works last week that all of the paperwork has been submitted for the projects granted Community Crossings funds.

The grant agreement was signed and now the city is waiting for the funds to be deposited which could take four to six weeks. The city was awarded just over $455,000 in grant funds this year.

Mill and fill work will be done on Pearl, Main, Shield, Washington, Lake and Bender Streets. Road reconstruction was approved for Water and Main Streets from U.S. 35 to Mound Street. New curbs and sidewalks are included in the reconstruction project along with three inch asphalt overlay.

Washington, Danker, Pine, Jackson, and Fisher Streets will get an asphalt overlay and several roads will receive an asphalt rejuvenator that will be applied to roads that were paved three years ago.

The overlay and mill and fill projects may be done yet this year with the other projects to begin in the spring.
Rieth-Riley Construction Co., Inc. will be conducting a lot of the work.
