Starke County Council, Commissioners to Meet Tonight

The Starke County Council members will consider several fund requests this evening.

They will have a presentation of a refund from NIPSCO and consider transfer requests from the auditor’s office and the clerk’s office. Starke County Highway Superintendent Rik Ritzler will present transfer and additional appropriation requests and the sheriff’s budget will be discussed along with Sheriff Bill Dulin’s requests for fund transfers. The council members will also consider the 2018 salary ordinance and receive information from Starke County Economic Development Foundation Director Charlie Weaver.

The Starke County Council will meet at 5:30 p.m. CT this evening.

That meeting will be followed by the Starke County Commissioners meeting where the commission members will consider a request of an appropriation from Starke County Economic Development Foundation Director Charlie Weaver. Members of the Koontz Lake Conservancy will present information to the commissioners and Highway Superintendent Rik Ritzler will discuss an RFP for bridge inspections. Treasurer Kasey Clark will discuss a tax refund exchange agreement and LOW website for tax billing information.

In addition, the commissioners will consider the renewal for county employee health insurance and a renewal of excess loss insurance for the Starke County Jail. A GIS request will be discussed as well as an update of the county handbook. The second reading of the UTV ordinance will be considered.

Both the Starke County Council and the Starke County Commissioners will meet in the meeting room in the Starke County Annex Building No. 1 in Knox.
