Culver Town Council Discusses Traffic Ordinance

The Culver Town Council members discussed a proposed traffic ordinance during their meeting Tuesday night.

The ordinance designates a congested motor vehicle traffic and pedestrian area on Lakeshore Drive and signage will be placed between 508 Lakeshore east to 824 Lakeshore Drive. The ordinance also creates a no parking zone for 50 feet from the intersection on both sides of the street on Batabano and South Plymouth Street.

There will be no parking allowed on the east side of Ohio Street from Davis to Mill Street and no parking on either side of Ohio Street from Washington Street to Jefferson Street.

The final portion of the ordinance bans semi-truck and trailer parking on residential streets. Semi trucks and trailers may be parked on private property in residential zones. Semi-truck idling time is restricted in a residential area for no more than 15 minutes.

The first reading of the ordinance was unanimously approved. A public hearing on the ordinance will be held during the Jan. 9 meeting of the Culver Town Council. Those choosing to voice an opinion about the ordinance who cannot otherwise attend the meeting may submit an email or written letter to the Culver Clerk-Treasurer to be read into the record and considered by the town council members during the public hearing.
