Candidates Begin Filing for 2018 Elections

The first day of candidate filing ended with a few contested races in Starke County. District 2 County Commissioner Don Binkley has filed to run for reelection. He faces opposition from county council member Bryan Cavender. Meanwhile, Dale Conley and Howard A. Bailey Jr. have both filed for the County Council District 2 seat.

The county clerk’s race already has two candidates: current county auditor Kay Chaffins and incumbent Vicki Cooley. For the auditor’s position, Rachel Oesterreich and Treasurer Kasey Clark are hoping to replace Chaffins. Rebekah Wagner has filed for county recorder.

Michelle Snowdon is seeking her first full term as county assessor. She’s currently filling the term begun by former assessor Rhonda Milner.

Pulaski County only had a few filings, as of Wednesday afternoon. County Assessor Holly VanDerAa and Salem Township Trustee Kay Beasey are both seeking reelection. Cathy Elston has filed for Francesville Town Clerk.
