Culver WinterFest Schedule Taking Shape

Culver’s WinterFest event is set for February, but the possibility of a beer garden was brought before the Culver Town Council Tuesday night.

Organizer Tony Sellers told the town council members that he has shortened the operation time of the beer garden to 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. There was concern about having spirits available until 9 p.m. in the Culver Town Park. Alcohol will be available during the highly-anticipated ice sculpture fights during the same time period. The vendor will also be set back from any children’s activities and other family-oriented events.

Food will also be served as part of the agreement. The menu hasn’t been finalized, but it will be provided to Culver Police Chief Wayne Bean for review, along with more plans and the permit application. Contingent on his blessing, the Culver Town Council members unanimously voted in favor of including the beer garden feature in this year’s WinterFest.

Culver’s WinterFest is set for Friday, Feb. 9 through Sunday, Feb. 11. An ice sculpture tour will be featured as well as the Lakehouse Grille’s ugly snowsuit competition. Sledding will take place in the park that weekend along with ice skating and other outdoor activities for children. The “Light up the Park” event is Saturday from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. where everyone can enjoy music, campfires, s’mores, hot chocolate, lights, luminaries and ice sculptures. On Sunday, Culver officials will cut the ribbon on the new large C-U-L-V-E-R sign in the town park at 11:30 a.m. ET.

More information on that weekend’s events can be found at culverchamber.com or Culver WinterFest on Facebook.
