Pulaski County Building Inspector Wraps Up Paperwork for Medaryville Blight Elimination Project

The Medaryville blight elimination project finally appears to be complete, after several months of work. But Building Inspector Doug Hoover told the county commissioners Tuesday it wasn’t without some last-minute challenges. “I think we’re almost done, thanks to [Commissioner] Jerry Locke, here,” Hoover said. “I had all my papers turned in, and less than 24 hours, they sent us an email saying that we needed another report. . . . I finally got it, got it all done, we got it all taken care of. I think it’s done, so that’s pretty close.”

The project involved the demolition of a dilapidated home. The cost is set to be covered by a blight elimination grant from the Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority.

Since this was Hoover’s first experience with the program, submitting the required paperwork to the state has been an ongoing struggle. That, along with an apparent employee issue with the demolition contractor, led to several delays.

But now, Hoover says he’s satisfied with the work, and that all debris and asbestos has properly been taken care of.
