Pulaski County Commissioners to Award Paving, Dump Truck Bids

Pulaski County Commissioners: Mike McClure, Jerry Locke, Kenny Becker

The Pulaski County Commissioners will make another attempt at choosing a paving contractor when they meet this morning. The county has gotten bids from three companies for hot mix asphalt work on County Road 200 South from U.S. 421 to State Road 39 and County Road 400 East from 200 North to 400 North.

The commissioners had previously approved a contract with Central Paving of Logansport for nearly $1.2 million, but they later repealed that decision to allow the project to be bid out formally. This time around, the bids ranged from just under $886,000 to over $1.1 million. Up to 75 percent of the cost would be covered by a Community Crossings grant from the state.

The commissioners are also expected to award bids for a new dump truck. The county got three bids for the truck itself, and one for an “Up Fit” to go along with it.

In other business, County Treasurer Teresa Bryant will join the commissioners for a board of finance meeting. The Pulaski County Commissioners have also announced plans to appoint a new Emergency Medical Services Director today, although it isn’t listed on the advance meeting agenda.

This morning’s Pulaski County Commissioners meeting starts at 8:00 EST at the Pulaski County Courthouse.
