Wander Our Winamac Meeting Tonight, New Members Sought

Winamac residents can learn more about efforts to revitalize the downtown area and boost the town’s economy. Wander Our Winamac is holding its first meeting of the year tonight. As an officially-recognized Main Street organization, the group focuses on economic vitality and revitalization, urban design and beautification, and events and promotions.

Board Secretary Nathan Origer says new members are needed to help out with each of those committees. “The board meets monthly to get reports, to oversee general operations,” he explains. “But it’s in those committees that street fairs and other events actually happen, that workshops for small businesses and entrepreneurs happen, that beautification projects take place, with boots on the ground, people actually getting out and doing things.”

Origer says Wander Our Winamac has been working on a few projects since it was officially added to the Indiana Main Street program back in 2016. “We have hosted a small business development workshop. We have undertaken but not yet completed a downtown business survey, and we have installed a number of planters downtown that have been seasonally planted with flowers and holiday greenery.”

Those interested in getting involved or learning more about the Wander Our Winamac are invited to attend tonight’s meeting. It starts at 6:00 p.m. EST at the Winamac Municipal Utilities Complex.
