Flood Warnings for Tippecanoe River Continue

The Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office has announced that the flood warnings for the Tippecanoe River, in the area above Winamac and the area near Ora, have been extended until further notice.

In the area around Ora at 7 p.m. Wednesday, the stage was 14.5 feet and rising, with the flood stage being 12 feet. This could potentially impact Starke, Pulaski and Marshall counties

The river is expected to crest near 15.1 feet around 7 p.m. on Saturday, February 24th before it begins falling. At 15 feet, near record flooding will be in progress. This crest compares to a previous crest of 14.6 which occurred on June 3, 2013.

Meanwhile, the stage of Tippecanoe River in the area above Winamac came in at 11.3 feet and rising at 8 p.m. on Wednesday. The flood stage there is 10 feet.

The river is expected to crest near 14.5 feet around 7 p.m. Sunday, February 25 and then begin falling. This crest compares to a previous crest of 14.5 feet which last occurred on January 7th, 1993. Record flooding would be in progress at 15.4 feet.
