Medaryville Man Arrested after Alleged Altercation with Police

Billy Crowe

A Medaryville man is in the Pulaski County Jail after allegedly getting into an altercation with an officer and then attempting to disarm him.

Police say a traffic stop was initiated in the Medaryville area late Tuesday evening where the driver was identified as 37-year-old Billy Crowe. He was found to be a habitual traffic violator, according to police.

As Crowe was outside of his vehicle talking to a Medaryville police officer, he allegedly fled the scene on foot. The officer pursued Crowe on foot and as he attempted to place him in custody, Crowe and the officer reportedly got into a physical altercation. It is alleged that Crowe tried to disarm the officer during the scuffle. Crowe was reportedly able to escape on foot a second time, but he was apprehended by a deputy without further incident.

Crowe faces preliminary charges of battery on a police officer, operating a vehicle as a habitual traffic violator, disarming a law enforcement officer, and resisting law enforcement.

Formal charges are pending with the Pulaski County Prosecutor’s Office.
