North Judson Town Council Members Approve Salt Purchase & Discuss Brush Pick-Up

A total of 240 tons of salt and sand mixture have been used in North Judson this winter season, according to Town Superintendent Marshall Horstmann.

At Monday night’s town council meeting, Horstmann submitted a purchase order of approximately $2,055 to Morton’s Salt for an additional 40 tons of road salt. He added that this purchase would complete their contract for the year. Members unanimously approved the P.O.

When Horstmann wrapped up his report, Councilman Josh Brown inquired about when brush pick-up would officially begin because some people have already started raking yards and bringing brush out to the curbs.

Horstmann said the utility crews will likely break out the leaf machine and do one round of leaf and brush pick-up at the end of the month.

Councilman John Rowe asked how many times they do a pick-up in the springtime. Horstmann replied that they typically just do one run through town for leaf pick-up in the spring.

Rowe said they may not be enough and suggested potentially adding some on if it seems like people continue to bring leaves and debris out to the curb after the first round of the spring pick-up is complete, just ensure everything is cleaned up. Horstmann was receptive to making adjustments to the plan if conditions called for it.
