Culver Town Council Holds Public Hearing on Culver Beach Lodge Renovations

A public hearing was held Monday night to discuss plans for the upcoming renovation of the Culver Beach Lodge.

Shannon McLeod from Priority Project Resources said the beach lodge will receive an extensive interior renovation.

“We’ll be building a corridor that will be new entryway with a stairwell and an elevator,” said McLeod. “This building as it stands is not handicapped accessible. Each floor is going to have some renovation. There will be new drywall, flooring, electrical, heating, cooling and plumbing. All of these things have been recommended that should be addressed.”

She said about $1.5 million dollars is set aside for this project, but the The Town of Culver has to formally apply for the grant funding through the Office of Community and Rural Affairs in order to move forward.

The application will be submitted by Monday, May 14. McLeod asks that anyone who can submit a letter of support that discusses the importance of the project to do so by Thursday, May 10. Those letters may be emailed to Culver Town Manager Jonathan Leist at townmanager@townofculver.org.

Once all of the paperwork is approved and designs are ready, bids for the project will be let in the spring of 2019 with the completion in late 2019. Construction crews may shift work around in order to schedule around the bigger events in the park area. We are also looking forward to work with home remodeling contractors in Syracuse who can give us new perspectives on working to make this project a success.

Media representatives presented questions during Monday’s public hearing and no other public comment was offered. Another public hearing on this project will be held during the Culver Town Council’s next regular meeting on Tuesday, May 8. Mike Reese from The Troyer Group and Steve Park from Mosaic Building Solutions will be available to present more information.
