Culver Town Council Holds Second Reading Over PUD Rezoning Ordinance, Additions to Developer’s Agreement Discussed

The property for a potential Planned Unit Development in Culver is one step closer to being rezoned, after Tuesday night’s Town Council meeting.

Council members held the second reading over the ordinance that would rezone the parcels located on State Road 17 and State Road 10, where developer Thomas Beste has proposed the construction the Culver Meadows housing development as well as gas station.

Town Council President Ginny Bess Munroe said that she spoke with Beste about adding a few things in the developer’s agreement to make sure a few of plans that have been discussed will be spelled out in the document.

She asked him to include a portion mentioning that a sign included in the plans will be utilized for the town’s benefit by promoting the town and local businesses. Beste indicated that he will include that recommendation.

Munroe added that in previous meetings, the developer mentioned listing some of the properties at a price that would be considered affordable by Culver standards, ranging from about $180,000 to $200,000. Beste agreed that he will include language in his developer’s agreement that provides that distinction for at least 10 of the units.

Members approved the ordinance on second reading. They plan to hold the third and final reading at their first meeting in June.

Town Attorney Jim Clevenger noted that when providing final approval of the rezoning ordinance, members may want to mention that it is pending the approval of the annexation and developer’s agreement.
