Knox Property Owner Discusses Code Enforcement Violations

Melvin Zeiters appeared before the Knox Board of Works Wednesday morning to discuss several code enforcement violations.

Building Administrator Kenny Pfost told board members that he issued several violations in March on W. Madison Street, Fear Court, W. Maple Street, W. Lewis Street, W. Bender Street, and Ostrander Court. Pfost said he hasn’t been contacted about any progress on any of the properties.

Zeiters was present at the meeting and said new roofs have been placed on two of the properties cited, sewer work is being completed, evictions have happened so work can be done, and new windows have been installed. Zeiters said he wasn’t told that he was to notify Pfost when the improvements were done. Pfost indicated that he told the maintenance contractors to contact him, which wasn’t done.

The Knox Board of Works members voted unanimously to have Pfost visit the properties and make notes of all improvements completed. Pfost will then notify Mayor Dennis Estok of the progress and a report will be given to the members at their next meeting on June 27.
