No Injuries Reported in Monday’s Selected Furniture Fire

Area firefighters spent about four hours battling a fire at Selected Furniture in Knox Monday. Firefighters were called to the facility around 11:40 a.m. When they got there, they found a sawdust collector, a semi-trailer full of sawdust, and areas of the roof on fire, according to Knox-Center Township Assistant Fire Chief Ted Bombagetti.

He says attack teams began working on the trailer fire, while Knox firefighters prepared their ladder truck. Once it was ready, they were able to extinguish the roof fires and cool the sawdust collector. Meanwhile, teams of Knox and Hamlet firefighters continued to attack the trailer fire. Once the smoke lessened, North Judson firefighters opened the sawdust collector and used volumes of water to extinguish the fire.

Bombagetti adds that there were no injuries during the fire. He says firefighters finally left the scene around 4:00 p.m.
