Winamac Park Board to Decide on Future Pickleball Expansion

Entrance to the Winamac Town Park

The Winamac Park Board will continue its discussion of the Town Park’s pickleball facilities tonight. A proposal has been brought forward to convert the remaining tennis court into two more pickleball courts, to accommodate a growing number of players.

But some board members don’t want to eliminate tennis from the Town Park, and building another tennis court somewhere else could prove expensive. Park Board President Courtney wants to take a vote, to see if board members want to continue exploring the potential project.

Also during tonight’s meeting, the Winamac Park Board will get an update on its application for a Land and Water Conservation Fund grant. It would provide matching funds for new restrooms in the Town Park and new equipment for the park’s toddler playground. The park board will also consider a request to install a concrete floor under the pavilion by the Winamac Parkway.

Tonight’s Winamac Park Board meeting starts at 6:00 p.m. EDT at the Winamac Municipal Utilities Complex.
