NIPSCO Completes New 100-Mile Transmission Line

The new 100-mile Reynolds-Topeka electric transmission line is now complete.

The line connects NIPSCO’s Reynolds substation with the Burr Oak Substation in Marshall County and the Hiple Substation.

NIPSCO officials say the 345-kilovolt line will enhance system reliability, offer environmental benefits by increasing access to wind and solar energy, and allow for greater access to supplies of electricity, including improved access to lower-cost electricity for customers.

The construction began in mid-2016.

This project, along with a 70-mile Greentown-Reynolds 765-kilovolt line jointly constructed by NIPSCO and Pioneer Transmission, LLC, totaled approximately $600 million.
