The Koontz Lake shoreline will be getting some new picnic tables, thanks to an anonymous donor and some help from the Starke County Park Board.
“[Highway Superintendent Rik Ritzler] built a picnic table, but I’ve got two picnic tables that I’m buying,” Park Board President Roger Chaffins explained during Tuesday’s meeting. “A private individual gave me the money to buy them for Koontz Lake from the board. No names are going to be mentioned. It’s a private individual, a donation-type thing.”
The tables will be given to the Koontz Lake Association. While the Koontz Lake shoreline may not explicitly fall under the Starke County Park Board’s jurisdiction, board members have been looking at possibly cooperating with the association on the site’s upkeep.
