Culver Eagle Scout Project on Hold

Austin Dilts discusses the status of his Eagle Scout project with the Culver Town Council members

A project that a Culver student is attempting to complete as an Eagle Scout project is on hold for the time being.

Austin Dilts explained that a recent survey to Culver residents about his proposed dog park in the western edge of the Culver-Union Township Park received about a 50/50 response from residents about the idea so he will be researching other areas to host the dog park. A plot of land could be purchased for about $6,000 near the park, but Dilts indicated that he doesn’t have the time or resources to begin a campaign for that funding in the near future.

On top of searching for another location, Dilts said he’s entering schooling at Culver Military Academy and will not have the time to continue with his project until the summer break.

Dilts did thank Culver Town Manager Jonathan Leist and the Culver Town Council members and other officials in helping him get to this point. Town Council President Ginny Bess Munroe praised Dilts for the professionalism he has put forward throughout the entire project and communicating his creative ideas. If more conversation surrounds the dog park, Dilts will be included in the talks.
