Pulaski County Council Makes Former Anvil & Saw Property Eligible for Tax Abatement

A light manufacturing business may soon be moving into the old Anvil & Saw property on Pulaski County Road 200 South, and the county council Monday took the first step towards granting it a tax abatement.

Community Development Commission Executive Director Nathan Origer told council members that the site’s current owner, Tom Bonnell, is close to closing on a sale. “It’s two business partners, one who will be locating from Logansport to Pulaski County to run the day-to-day, and then a gentleman out of Chicago,” Origer explained. “I don’t have all of the details yet. It will be a pretty small light manufacturing process. I don’t think any louder, any more of a nuisance than what Tom was doing, but I think, just given the sense of what I have from the gentlemen involved in the process, the property might be a little bit tidier than Tom had it at some times.”

Council members approved a preliminary resolution designating the site an economic revitalization area. Origer said the actual tax abatement request may come at next month’s meeting, if the company is ready. A public hearing will be held, before a final decision is made.
