The Cheryl Lyn Welter Family Charitable Foundation RadioThon Is Happening Today!

The Inaugural RadioThon for the Cheryl Lyn Welter Family Charitable Foundation is scheduled for today on WKVI.

The Foundation was established in memory of Cheryl Welter, a popular member of the Knox Class of 2001, who was killed in an auto accident early in her Senior year. The purpose of the Foundation is to help underprivileged kids in local schools with the little things which are often out of their reach.

Working with area schools, the Foundation has begun issuing grants to teachers who identify specific needs with which students need help. The initial grants were awarded earlier this year to six different schools in five different local school Corporations.

Today’s RadioThon is being co-sponsored by Five Star Food Center of Knox, which is giving gift certificates for those who make donations at that location. It’s also being supported by the Chicago White Sox, which have provided some rare team items for auction.

The RadioThon will run from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on K99.3 and you can make a pledge by calling any time to 574-772-6241.
