Culver School Board to Consider Debt Collection Policy Update, Cavalier Sports Park Agreement

The Culver School Board will consider an agreement regarding the Cavalier Sports Park tonight. The project will add restrooms, a concession stand, a walking trail, and more parking to a piece of school property that’s currently used for youth soccer fields. It’s part of Culver’s Stellar Community Designation.

To allow the upgrades to take place, the school board had approved a recreation easement agreement last spring. But since then, it’s been suggested that the school corporation simply become a sub-recipient of the grant funding, instead. An agreement with the Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs will be up for the board’s approval tonight.

Board members will also vote on updates to the corporation’s policy on the collection and forgiveness of debt. This comes after school officials decided last month to continue giving students regular hot lunches, even if they’ve accumulated a negative balance in their lunch accounts. A recommendation to increase adult lunch prices will also be up for approval.

In other business, board members will consider a pair of fund transfer resolutions. They’ll also hear from the captains of the football team.

Tonight’s Culver School Board meeting starts at 7:00 EDT in the Culver Schools Administration Office, following a study session at 6:00. During the study session, board members are expected to discuss potential energy-saving projects with representatives from Performance Services.
