Knox Street Department Submits Community Crossings Fall Grant Application

Knox Street Superintendent Jeff Borg told the Knox Board of Works members on Wednesday morning that applications have been submitted to INDOT for consideration for the 2018 fall Community Crossings call for projects.

One request is for mill and fill operations in the Claybaugh Drive area along with Henry Drive, Edgewood Drive, Evelyn Avenue, McGill Street, and Carlson Drive. The street department is also interested in getting asphalt overlay paving in the Corey Drive area along with Fisher Street, Ellis Street, South Roosevelt Road, West Delaware Street, and East Washington Street.

Another request will be for reimbursement of projects already completed on Fisher Street and Delaware Street. Borg told WKVI News that this is the last grant round that INDOT will accept projects for reimbursement.

The last request is for street rejuvenation efforts on several streets in the city. A preservative seal will be applied which gives the asphalt more life for longevity.

The total amount of the projects will be about $461,500 with the city’s match to be in the amount of $115,375.

Projects will be awarded yet this year.
