Pulaski County Commissioners to Vote on Commercial Wind Turbine Ban Tonight

Pulaski County Commissioners: Mike McClure, Jerry Locke, Kenny Becker

The Pulaski County Commissioners will decide tonight whether to ban commercial wind turbines. The updated wind turbine regulations head back to the commissioners tonight, after the county’s advisory plan commission agreed last week to some language adjustments the commissioners had recommended. Under the updated proposal, landowners would still be allowed to build noncommercial and micro wind energy convergence systems in certain areas.

It’s one of two changes to the county’s Unified Development Ordinance that will be up for the commissioners’ approval tonight. They will also decide whether to officially repeal the county’s regulations on campaign signs. That’s mainly a formality, since the commissioners already agreed to the change back in May.

In other business, Maintenance Supervisor Jeff Johnston will discuss proposals from architectural firms. He has been looking into the possibility of making changes to some of the county’s government offices.

Sheriff Jeff Richwine is expected to present a contract with Motorola for new body cameras, portables, data storage, and phone upgrades. EMS Director Bryan Corn will discuss an ambulance repair estimate. Auditor Laura Wheeler will talk about payroll issues, and Circuit Court Judge Michael Shurn will discuss a phone number and email account.

Tonight’s Pulaski County Commissioners meeting starts at 6:00 EDT at the Pulaski County Highway Garage.
