Winamac Town Manager Discusses Bidding Process for Garbage Services

Winamac Town Council members received an update about the town’s garbage services when they met Monday night.

Town Manager Brad Zellers explained that officials will be advertising the garbage services bid in the paper this week. He noted that there are already three individuals who have expressed an interest in bidding on it.

Zellers said that potential bidders will bid on what it would cost to just provide just garbage services and added that they’ll also be able to provide a bid on certain alternatives such as recycling and garbage bins.

However, Zellers indicated that many companies shy away from offering that service these days because it isn’t very lucrative. He said he plans to discuss the topic of recycling with county officials to explore all available options.

No official actions were taken during Monday night’s meeting but members are scheduled to open bids when they meet next on Monday, November 12th.
