Chief Deputy Coroner Position to be Discussed during Pulaski County Commissioners Meeting

Pulaski County Commissioners: Mike McClure, Jerry Locke, Kenny Becker

The Pulaski County Commissioners will meet tonight in the County Highway Garage. They had planned to move back to the courthouse, but an unexpected delay in the elevator project has led to a change in location.

During tonight’s meeting, Coroner John Behny will discuss the possibility of rehiring his former chief deputy. Jon Frain resigned from the position amid an apparent wage dispute. While the county had budgeted $8,000 for a chief deputy coroner this year, Frain’s actual wage was reportedly much lower, at less than $150 a month.

Also during tonight’s meeting, EMS Director Bryan Corn will continue discussing options for a new or temporary ambulance, as well as an addition onto the Winamac ambulance garage.

Meanwhile, Superior Court Judge Crystal Brucker Kocher will present more information about potential grant funding to help the county bring its court software in line with much of the rest of the state. Unlike the CSI system the county currently uses, Odyssey would be available free of charge, but computers and other hardware would probably have to be replaced.

The commissioners will also discuss a grant for the Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) program. Tonight’s Pulaski County Commissioners meeting starts at 6:00 EST in the Pulaski County Highway Garage.
