Main Street Officials to Hold Public Input Session Thursday on the Future of Downtown Winamac

Boosting opportunities for Downtown Winamac is the goal of an upcoming visit from National Main Street Center consultants. Winamac is one of seven Indiana Main Street communities that volunteered to take part in a pilot program sponsored by the Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs.

According to an OCRA press release, national Main Street officials will lead a two-day transformation workshop. The goal is to help Wander Our Winamac, the town’s Main Street organization, come up with “community informed and market driven strategies” to direct and strengthen revitalization efforts.

The seven communities will serve as a case study, by demonstrating whether implementing the recommendations will have a measurable impact. OCRA Executive Director Jodi Golden says the goal is for each of the Main Street organizations in the state to have its own three-to-five year comprehensive plan.

To get ready for the workshop, Main Street officials recently conducted an online survey, asking residents and visitors about their perceptions, experiences, and desires, when it comes to Downtown Winamac. Additionally, a public input session is scheduled for this Thursday evening at 6:30 EST at the Winamac Fire Station.

Those planning to attend are asked to register by this afternoon at 4:00, by emailing nporiger@pulaskionline.org.
