Name of Deceased Winamac Student Released, Fundraiser Started to Help Family with Expenses

The Winamac Middle School student who passed away as a result of  Wednesday morning’s fatal crash near Argos has been identified as 13-year-old Owen M. Abbott.

Marshall County Coroner John Grolich noted that he was pronounced deceased at the scene. An autopsy is scheduled to be performed on Thursday, December 6th.  

In the press release from the Coroner’s Office, Grolich recognized the Plymouth Community School Corporation for their assistance with transporting the remaining students to St Joseph Hospital Regional Medical Center in Plymouth for medical evaluation and reunification with family members.

Funeral arrangements for Abbott are currently pending with the Frain Mortuary in Winamac. Community members are already coming together to help his family with expenses. If you’d like to contribute a monetary donation to assist Owen’s family during this trying time click here.
