Pulaski Commissioners to Discuss Campaign Sign Regulations, Open Paving, Dump Truck Bids

Pulaski County Commissioners: Mike McClure, Jerry Locke, Kenny Becker

The Pulaski County Commissioners will once again consider repealing the county’s campaign sign regulations when they meet this morning. The commissioners and the advisory plan commission have been discussing removing the “special signs” portion of the county’s Unified Development Ordinance since April, since election board members felt there were already enough rules at the state and federal level.

Members of all three governing bodies have voiced support for the change, but they haven’t formally incorporated it into the Unified Development Ordinance. Building Inspector Doug Hoover is expected to discuss that, along with a fee adjustment, during this morning’s commissioners meeting.

In other business, the commissioners will open bids for potential Community Crossings paving projects, as well as a new dump truck. Community Development Commission Executive Director Nathan Origer will discuss a revolving line of credit, and outgoing Circuit Court Judge Michael Shurn will have updates on some end-of-term details.

The commissioners may also appoint a new plan commission member to replace Jim Thompson. He notified them that he isn’t seeking reappointment several weeks ago, but the commissioners haven’t been able to find a Democrat interested in the seat until now.

This morning’s Pulaski County Commissioners meeting starts at 8:00 EST in the commissioners meeting room in the Pulaski County Courthouse. It will be their first regular meeting held there since February, due to the replacement of the courthouse elevator.
