North Judson Town Council to Hold Public Hearing Tonight

North Judson Town Council members will hold a public hearing tonight over a comprehensive planning grant that the Town is applying for through the Office of Community and Rural Affairs.

As reminder, all local municipalities involved in Starke County’s Stellar efforts are required to have an up-to-date comprehensive plan.

In the past, officials have shared that the total cost of the comprehensive plan project is $44,000 which is actually $6,000 less than what was originally anticipated. To help pay for the plan, the Town is applying for $39,600 Community Development Block Grant.

In order to secure the funding, a match of $4,400 must be provided to cover the remainder of the cost. The initial cost estimate for the match was $5,000 so officials will be spending even less than they expected.

Additionally, the at-large council members who won in November’s general election will be sworn in to the council tonight. In that race, incumbent council members, John Rowe and Josh Brown were in the running with Scott Pajor for two open seats. Brown and Rowe will be staying on the council after gaining the most votes.

The meeting will commence at 6:30 p.m. in North Judson Town Hall, located at 310 Lane Street.
