BraunAbility is moving its headquarters to Carmel. The Indiana Economic Development Corporation says the company will locate its global headquarters in Carmel’s Lakeside Green Business Center, while also building a new 20,000-square-foot Research & Development and Technology Center in the city. Manufacturing operations will stay in Winamac.
BraunAbility expects to move some of its current employees to the new Carmel headquarters, but the company says most of those workers currently commute to Winamac from outside of Pulaski County. Plans call for the creation of 68 new jobs at the Carmel headquarters, but new engineering and finance positions may also be added in Winamac in the coming years. An IEDC press release says BraunAbility will invest $7.5 million in the expansion effort, while the IEDC has offered up to $1.3 million in conditional tax credits, with additional incentives from the City of Carmel.
Company executives and Lieutenant Governor Suzanne Crouch unveiled the plans at an event in Carmel Wednesday. Crouch notes that BraunAbility is the largest employer in Pulaski County and says the new headquarters “will benefit not just Carmel, but future manufacturing needs in Winamac, providing opportunities for long-term domestic and international growth.”
BraunAbility President and CEO Staci Kroon adds, “Winamac, Indiana is the birthplace of our company and will remain the heart and soul of the company as its primary manufacturing center.” Kroon says the new facilities are key to the company’s long-term recruitment and retention strategies.
The new headquarters is expected to open in June, followed by the technology center next year. BraunAbility was acquired in 2015 by Patricia Industries, which is part of the Sweden-based firm Investor AB.
