Don’t Miss Friday’s Deadline to File a Declaration of Candidacy for the Municipal Primary

Time is running out to file a declaration of candidacy for the 2019 Municipal Primary Election.

All candidates interested in running must be filed at their County Clerk’s Office by noon, local time, on Friday, February 8th. No exceptions will be made.

According to election officials, most candidates will only need to fill out two standard forms; the declaration of candidacy for municipal primary nomination (CAN-42) and the statement of economic interest for local and school board offices (CAN-12).

If you’re running for a treasurer’s position and you’ll be making more than $5,000 in that position, there is some additional information that must be turned in. Local election officials will alert you if need to complete something other than the standard forms.

All necessary paperwork will be available in your County Clerk’s Office. You can also access them by visiting the Indiana Election Division’s Candidate Information Page or by clicking the links above.
