Pulaski County Commissioners to Discuss Maintenance Director Appointment, Winamac Recycling

Pulaski County Commissioners: Mike McClure, Jerry Locke, Kenny Becker

Recycling options for Winamac residents will be discussed during this morning’s Pulaski County Commissioners meeting. The town council recently decided to discontinue recycling pickup.

Town officials were concerned that few items are actually being recycled, due to contamination from food waste and other trash being placed in recycling bins. Town Manager Brad Zellers and Pulaski County Recycling and Transfer Station Manager Brad Bonnell are scheduled to discuss the issue with the commissioners this morning.

The commissioners will also consider the appointment of a new maintenance director, following the resignation of Jeff Johnston last month. Meanwhile, Interim Maintenance Director Mia Salyers will discuss contracts and ash tree removal bids.

The commissioners will also be asked to make a recommendation about a new secretary for the Prosecutor’s Office. A vote on the matter by the county council ended in a three-to-three tie last week.

The commissioners will also continue discussions about a new email system for county employees and a new ambulance for the EMS Department. Bids from banks interested in handling the county’s cash management account will be opened.

This morning’s Pulaski County Commissioners meeting starts at 8:30 EST at the Pulaski County Courthouse.
