Starke County Man Arrested after Allegedly Shooting at a Residence

A Starke County man was arrested after allegedly shooting a gun at a residence. 

According to the Starke County Sheriff’s Department, officers were notified of shots fired around noon CT on Tuesday, Feb 12 in the area of State Road 23 south of 50 S.  Police say the homeowner woke up after hearing a loud bang and that someone shot weapon outside the residence. 

When officers arrived at the scene, they reportedly observed a single gunshot to the east side of the home.  The bullet entered the home, striking a mirror in the bathroom, according to the report.  No one was injured in the reported incident. 

Further investigation led to a suspect, 18-year-old Donald R. Platz, of the Washington Township area.  He allegedly admitted to the shooting during police questioning.  He was then booked into the Starke County Justice Center on a preliminary charge of criminal recklessness with a firearm as a Level 5 Felony. 

No bond was listed as of late Tuesday afternoon.
