Winamac Town Council Approves New Hire, Makes Two Appointments

Winamac Street and Water Superintendent Jeremy Beckner informed Town Council members of an employee who recently left his department when they met on Monday.

Beckner requested permission to select a replacement from the applications that were submitted during their most recent hiring process. The members gave him the go ahead to do that.

He mentioned that out of those applicants, there was a qualified candidate who already indicated availability. In order to get the open spot filled as soon as possible, he asked if the members would be willing to approve hiring that candidate, Justice Hartley, during the meeting.

His recommendation received unanimous support from the council.

In addition to approving the new hire for Beckner’s department, members made two appointments that were not addressed at their first meeting of the month.

They voted to retain Dave DeLorenzo as the Park Manager and the newest council member, Dave Schambers, was appointed to the plan commission, replacing former councilman Dan Vanaman in that position.
