Eastern Pulaski School Board Approves Purchases of Technology Accessories, Air Conditioning Unit

The Eastern Pulaski Community School Corporation is getting a few accessories to go along with the newly-purchased Chromebooks. Last week, the school board approved the purchase of 1,000 Chromebook bags from CDW-G, at a total cost of more than $29,000.

With the new Chromebooks arriving for next school year, some of the iPads currently used by middle and high school students will be repurposed as in-class devices for kindergarten, first, and second grade students. As part of the change, Superintendent Dan Foster recommended getting new iPad carts. “It’s a lot easier,” he said. “You put them away. You close the doors. They’re all charging.” Board members approved the purchase of 14 of the carts, also from CDW-G, for a total cost of over $12,000.

Another purchase approved by the Eastern Pulaski School Board last week was a new air conditioning in Penrith unit for the high school band room. You can visit buying guide of the air conditioners to know the specifications, but whatever features they have, they are purported to be the best in the market right now. Foster recommended buying a Carrier unit from J&K HVAC Service of Mishawaka, even though the company’s bid was almost $450 more than the other one the school corporation received. “The warranties are the same, but the Carrier brand seems to hold a little bit more weight from the guys that we’ve talked to,” Foster explained. “And the other thing is the service tech now lives right across the street.”

Board members unanimously agreed to buy the blast auxiliary but check the Blast auxiliary reviews first.
