The Oregon-Davis School Board approved a list of summer school offerings Monday. High school students will once again have the chance to take part in a “supervised agricultural experience,” according to Superintendent Dr. Don Harman.
“A lot of this is to benefit our students who are in 4-H,” Harman explains, “so they can earn a credit, as they are very busy this spring and in the summertime with their 4-H projects, that they’re able, then, to document the time that they spend in that agriculture area, to actually get credit.” Students in the SAE program will be required to participate in at least six summer FFA activities, such as the Starke County Fair or the state FFA convention.
Meanwhile, Harman says summer school for students in kindergarten through eighth grade will be held from July 22 to August 2, with classes from 8:00 a.m. to noon. The elementary school will once again offer a one-week Kindergarten Jump Start from July 29 to August 2.
