Town of Hamlet Receives OCRA Funds for Comprehensive Plan, Signs Service Agreement with KIRPC

A service agreement between the Town of Hamlet and the Kankakee Iroquois Planning Commission was signed Wednesday night.

Hamlet Clerk-Treasurer Kristina Pitts said the agreement was related to the Town’s comprehensive plan project.

Pitts shared that the Town was awarded the OCRA grant they applied for to assist with the creation of the comprehensive plan. An up-to-date comprehensive plan is one of the requirements associated with the county’s regional Stellar efforts.

The cost of the comprehensive plan project is approximately $44,000. The amount awarded through the OCRA grant was $39,600 and it required a $4,400 local match.

Clerk-Treasurer Pitts noted that Hamlet’s match was graciously paid for by the Starke County Community Foundation.

To assist with consistency, County officials and officials from the towns of Hamlet and North Judson will all be utilizing the company HWC Engineers on their comprehensive plans.
