The City of Knox will be hosting their annual ‘Dumpster Days’ next month.
At Tuesday’s city council meeting, Mayor Dennis Estok noted that said this is a good chance for citizens to clean up their yards and homes to get rid of anything that is too large to be picked up on normal trash days.
Mayor Estok explained that residents will be able to drop items off from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. on Saturday, May 4th and from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. on Sunday, May 5th. The dumpsters will be stationed at the Wastewater Treatment Plant, located in the rear portion of Wythogan Park.
Mayor Estok stated that there are a few items that will not be accepted.
He explained, “We will not take any regular trash, no grass clippings or yard waste, tires – we won’t take the tires, no electronics, refrigerators or any items that contain Freon, paint of any kind or household hazardous waste and/or medical waste.”
He added that building and construction materials are also on the list of items that cannot be disposed of during Dumpster Days.
This event is restricted to residents who live within the city limits only. It is not open to businesses or contractors. Before disposing of anything, individuals will be required to show a valid I.D, listing their Knox residence and a current utility bill.
