Knox City Council to Consider Rezoning Request at Tonight’s Meeting

When Knox City Council members meet tonight, they will be asked to consider a recommendation to rezone an area within the city limits from a General Commercial (C-2) to a Heavy Industrial (M-2) zone.

The Planning Commission is looking to have the city’s Zoning Map Ordinance amended to rezone the east side of County Road 250 East between Pacific Avenue (CR 50 S.) and Division Road.

During the March Planning Commission meeting, members explained one reason the rezoning is being proposed is because REMC is interested in installing a substation near the corner of 250 East and Pacific Avenue.

At their April meeting, members provided a favorable recommendation to submit the request to the City Council for final approval.

The council meeting will be held in Knox City Hall at 7 p.m.
