Knox Residents Are Invited to Learn More about a Grant Program for Home Improvements Next Week

Knox Mayor Dennis Estok recently highlighted an opportunity for community members interested in making home improvements to learn more about the Owner-Occupied Housing Rehabilitation Grant program.

During his report at Tuesday night’s city council meeting, Mayor Estok said an informational meeting about the grant program will be held at the Nancy J. Dembowski Community Center next week on Tuesday, April 16th at 6 p.m.

Mayor Estok explained, “Neighborhood Development and Area 5 will be there to basically explain the program to the people and help people fill the application out so they get it right.”

The program is geared to assist individuals with disabilities and those who are at the low to moderate income level. More information about certain income requirements and other specifications that an individual must meet in order to be eligible for the program will be covered during the presentation.

Mayor Estok noted that individuals who applied in the past when the grant was not awarded will get first priority when it comes to dispersing the grant funding, as long as they still qualify and the work hasn’t been completed already.

If you have any questions prior to next Tuesday’s event, you can reach the Mayor’s Office at 574-772-4553.
